6 Philosophies of AYSO

1. Everybody plays
We want kids to play soccer – we mandate that every player on every team must play at least half of every game.

2. Balanced teams
At the start of each season we try to set up teams as evenly as possible. It’s more fun for the kids when teams are of equal ability.

3. Open registration
Our programs are open to all children age 4-19 who want to play soccer. Interest and enthusiasm are the only requirement for playing.

4. Positive coaching
We train and encourage our coaches to make the extra effort to understand and offer positive help to our players, rather than use negative criticism. This approach builds a positive team spirit.

5. Good sportsmanship
We create a positive environment based upon mutual respect, rather than a win at all costs attitude. All of our programs are designed to instill good sportsmanship in our kids and volunteers.

6. Player Development
We believe that all players should be able to develop their soccer skills and knowledge to the best of their abilities, both individually and as members of a team, in order to maximize their enjoyment of the game.

AYSO Evanston is Region 735 of the national American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO).  We are completely volunteer run, with a volunteer board and over 200 volunteer coaches and referees each year.  

We provide programs that help kids in and around Evanston, Illinois develop their soccer skills, learn good sportsmanship, get exercise, and have fun.  If you're looking for an open registration, recreational soccer league in Evanston, you've found it. 

In a typical season, 1000 kids ages 4-14 play soccer through Evanston AYSO each Fall and Spring.  See Our Programs for information on registering for a team.
